Overview
When it comes to saving energy we wrote the book!
When it comes to saving energy one company stands out…Scales Industrial Technologies. From our inception in 1966 as Scales Air Compressor Corporation, to the evolution and growth that created Scales Industrial Technologies, we have concentrated on helping industry use compressed air and cooling water more efficiently. We pioneered the use of variable speed drives in rotary screw compressors and were one of the first companies to offer compressed air system energy assessments. Through publications, workshops, assessments and services, Scales is recognized as the foremost authority on compressed air systems and energy saving technologies.
Scales Industrial Technologies is also a Department of Energy Allied Partner. Our staff includes five instructors certified to teach the USDOE
Compressed Air Challenge’s (CAC) one-day Fundamentals of Compressed Air Systems workshop and three instructors for the two-day Advanced Management workshop. Scales Industrial Technologies also participated in the development of the text and support material for these classes. In addition, Bill Scales is the co-author of Best Practices for Compressed Air Systems (offered below) and is a member of the CAC Product Development Committee and their Technical Core Group that defines and writes the training curriculum.
We have worked with some of the world’s leading companies including Alcoa, Exxon Mobil, Georgia Pacific Corp, John Deere, Abbot Laboratories and Ford Motor Company to help them reduce the cost of manufacturing their products. Our numerous publications, which are all available for purchase, include:
- Best Practices for Compressed Air Systems published by the Compressed Air Challenge (2003, 2007) and co-authored by Bill Scales. This is a “how to” volume, comprised of more than 300 pages of original text and reference appendices, photos and performance data, for use to help compressed air end users and service providers to improve operating efficiencies and reliability of installed compressed air systems.
- Compressor Engineering Data Book (1985). This handbook will help you design and maintain compressed air, process cooling and vacuum systems
- The chapter on compressed air in the Complete Building Equipment Maintenance Desk Book by Prentice Hall published in 1992
- *Air Compressors and the Compressed Air System (1992)
- *Air Compressor Energy Audit (1981) in conjunction with the State of New Jersey’s Energy Department
Contact for information on purchasing any of the above publications.
